Our Customers Love Our Doors!
You want to make sure your new internal door looks perfect in your home which is why we offer various finishes, design and glazed options.
Pre-finished doors don’t have any type of finishes, such as lacquer or paint, so you can fully customise your door to match your home. They require some additional work but offer you the most flexibility when choosing a new internal door. Unfinished doors are available across our range of interior doors, such as the Affinity Unfinished bifold door and Unfinished Oak 1 Light single interior door.
Primed internal doors are professionally primed ready to be painted by you, such as our Vision White Primed french door. This takes some of the work away and means you can simply choose which colour will best suit your new interior doors.
A fully finished door is the most convenient style as your door is ready to hang as soon as it arrives, such as the Affinity Fully Finished bifold door. Pre-finished doors have a professional quality finish, with either paint or lacquer, so they don’t need any further treatment.
Our range of interior bifold doors has two separate methods of operation. The Repute Range has a bottom track whereas the Visions Range does not. Each door style has its own benefits. By not having a bottom track, there is a truly seamless connection from room to room. Your flooring can run from space to space without any interruptions.
A door with a bottom track means there will be a track fitted along your floor. The door is then pulled along the track when opening and closing. It does create a less seamless appearance, however, it will mean your door has greater stability and a smoother movement. If you go for the bottom-tracked Repute, you can always opt to recess the sill and track into the floor for a near flush join between each room.
There’s no right or wrong choice when deciding on your internal door. It’s all about finding the style and functionality that best suits your home.
Traditionally, solid timber doors have been favoured for their aesthetic and use of natural materials. However, solid oak material requires a lot of maintenance and is prone to warping and bending. Using engineered oak as your door material allows you to enjoy the aesthetic benefits of a solid oak or pine door without the high maintenance. This is why many of our customers prefer engineered wood when deciding on a material for their internal door.
Created by bonding together small strips of oak to create a solid core, the door is then coated in a layer of solid oak. This means your door will look exactly like a solid oak door but with plenty of additional benefits.
You’ll find plenty of styles to choose from as well, from contemporary choices like the White Primed 4 Light to the traditional Vision French Door.

A standard internal door in the UK is usually 2ft 6 inches in width and 6ft 6 inches in height (762mm x 1981mm). However while this is the “standard”, it’s always best to check the specific measurements of your doors – especially if your home was built before 1980.
The weight of an internal door varies widely, depending on the materials it’s made from. For example, a solid wood door will weigh more than a hollow core door.
On average, a hollow core internal door will weigh between 20 and 30 pounds. A solid core door will be much heavier, at 40 to 50 pounds.
The average thickness of an internal door is approximately 40mm, however this can vary depending on the style of door and the materials it’s made from. For example, a solid wood door will usually be thicker than a hollow core door. A fire door will also be thicker than a standard internal door, as it needs to be able to withstand extreme temperatures.
It is possible to replace an interior door without replacing the frame, as long as the frame is in good condition – it should not be warped in any way or showing signs of significant damage. If the frame is damaged then it will need to be replaced. If you force a door into a damaged frame it not fit properly and might not open and close correctly.
There is no definitive answer to this question as it will depend on a number of factors, including the cost of the door itself, the cost of any additional materials required (e.g. new door handles), whether the frame and door is being replaced, or just the door itself, and the cost of labour if you are having someone else install the door for you.
As a rough guide however, expect to pay a professional around £100 to fit an interior door.
The best way to cut an internal door to size is to use a sharp hand plane or power plane (if you have one). It’s also essential to measure the door before you start trimming, and to mark the areas (with a pencil) that need to be removed. This will ensure you don’t trim too much or too little off the door.
To avoid damaging the door, it’s a good idea to place some masking tape on the areas that you’ll be cutting. This will help to prevent the wood from splitting or chipping.
Once you’ve cut the door to size, you can then sand down any rough edges with a fine-grit sandpaper.
Internal doors are built to last and with proper care, they should last for many years. However, the average internal door will probably need to be replaced every 10-15 years. This is due to wear and tear as well as changes in temperature and humidity levels, which can cause the door to warp or swell.
It is generally not recommended to put an internal door within 4 to 6 inches of a corner. This is because the door needs to be able to swing open without hitting the adjacent wall, and if it’s too close to a corner it might not be able to do this.
If you’re not 100% certain whether an internal door is load bearing or not, it’s always best to consult a professional. However, there are some general guidelines you can follow. If the door is located in the middle of a wall then it is usually not load bearing, but if it is located at the end of a wall then it is likely to be load bearing.
Other clues as to whether or not a door is load bearing include :
A prehung door is a door that is already attached to a frame. This makes installation much easier, as you do not have to cut or plane the door to fit the frame. Prehung doors also come with hinges, hardware, mortices, and space to install a doorhandle.
Solid core doors are more expensive than hollow core doors, but they offer better soundproofing and insulation. They are also heavier and more durable, making them ideal for high traffic areas or homes with small children. However if cost is a concern, hollow core doors are the obvious choice. They’re also typically available in more styles than solid core doors, and are easier to install.
