Timber Doors
When they're open, French patio doors will completely change the way home flows. They will bring your garden and your interior together into one big sociable space.
When you design your home with a country cottage vibe, it can be hard to find patio doors to fit with your interior design scheme.
The large panes of glass and thin frames found in most patio doors tend to give a contemporary feel to an interior and look at odds with rustic styles. But just because you're building a cottage aesthetic doesn't mean you can't have all the bright, beautiful benefits that patio doors can bring.
The traditional, homely appeal of solid wood French doors makes them the perfect patio door for any country cottage style home.
When it comes to external doors you have to consider the practical benefits as well as their appearance.
Unlike internal french doors, which only really need to look lovely, external French patio doors have to keep your home secure, energy-efficient and be able to weather the elements.
Whether you're looking for ready-to-install, made to measure French doors, or cheap French doors for your home, we have you covered.
Our French patio doors are designed with energy efficiency in mind. That's why every French door we stock has double glazing that meets or exceeds all environmental standards. Boasting energy-efficient U-values, our French doors are fantastic for improving thermal insulation.
With double glazed French doors, you can be sure that your home will be energy-efficient in the winter.
From 1200- 4000mm wide, our large French doors can accommodate even the biggest of openings. Typically ranging from 44mm in thickness, all of our French doors are designed to fit any home.
If you're looking for a French door set that is a little less standard in size, we also supply a selection of matching sidelights. If you want double doors but still have extra space to fill, installing full-length windows beside your French doors is a great way to keep that light flowing through.
As more stylish alternatives to sliding patio doors, we stock French doors in various material choices, including aluminium, softwood and hardwood.
With their thin, sleek frame our aluminium french doors will add a cutting-edge contemporary style to the look of your home. Our aluminium doors are available in a choice of two colours anthracite grey french doors or white french doors. You can tailor the look of your doors to suit your home knowing that all options allow an abundance of natural light into your home.
In contrast, our range of timber external french doors bring a much more rustic, traditional look.
All our timber doors feature a solid wood veneer and an engineered core. This means that you can get all the beauty of solid oak or pine, with improved functionality.
This type of construction provides far greater security and thermal insulation than older methods. The engineered timber used in their core is able to resist stresses that would make other doors warp and bow.
If money is no object, our solid oak french doors feature wood veneers renowned for their aesthetic appeal. But we also have options for a tighter budget. Our clear pine French doors still have the beauty of timer doors at a much more affordable cost.
Another way to keep your French door prices down is to pick an unfinished one.
The wood veneers of unfinished double doors will need a little extra help before they are able to withstand the elements when hung. You will need to stain or paint them before hanging. This means they are a great choice when you want to create a completely custom look for your garden.
If you prefer the convenience of a door that arrives ready to install we also offer a range of prefinished patio doors in a range of colours and styles that arrive completely finished.
As well as providing excellent thermal efficiency, the glass used in all our patio doors is engineered to be as safe and secure as possible.
This toughened safety glass is treated to make it up to five times stronger than standard glass. This means it is much harder to break. As well as helping to keep out intruders, this toughened glass is a safer option for your family as it won't break accidentally.
As well as toughened safety glass all our French patio doors feature a multipoint locking system to provide maximum security. These are the locks specified by building regulations to help keep your doors and windows secure against intruders.
Finally, our french patio doors are also either internal beaded or cassette construction for even higher security levels.
When you buy french doors from us, we supply all the hinges, handles and multi-point locking systems need to get your door hung.
Our doors are designed to be simple to install, thanks to the good quality door furniture and bespoke instructions for all of our products. However, to ensure the lasting quality and security of all our french doors we do advise having your new doors installed by a professional.
As well as the door hardware, all our prices include delivery and VAT too. This means you can order anything from across our site without worrying that extra details will add to the cost. If you do want to see how our delivery costs break down within the price, you can see it all in our external doors FAQ.
We also aim to deliver stock items within five days.
The way that French doors open is dictated by the hinges and the installation of the door.
Our range of exterior French doors is all designed to open outwards into your garden, as opposed to inwards into your room. This helps extend your internal living space and gives you the feel of a larger home.
Another benefit of this opening mechanism is that it improves the weatherproofing of the french doors.
If you struggle for outdoor space then outward opening French patio doors might be obstructive. Instead, think about installing a set of sliding or even bi-fold doors. They may not have that traditional rustic charm of French doors but they will still let that much-needed light soak into your home. As they open completely within the doorway, they will also save space and help your garden flow better.
The Aspire range of external French doors has choices suitable for all home improvement projects. Our selection of French doors have all been manufactured to the highest quality. Made from sturdy and durable materials, your new doors have been built for the long term.
We're passionate about providing excellent service for all Aspire Doors customers. Timber external doors can be painted to refresh their appearance and provide additional weather protection. However, aluminium and uPVC doors are supplied with durable factory-applied finishes and are not generally intended to be repainted. If you're considering changing the colour of your door, always check the manufacturer's recommendations before starting any work.

Yes, all our external door sets feature high-security hardware and a multi-point locking system as standard, alongside toughened Low E double glazed units, which provide added strength and safety.
Installing an exterior door can be a straightforward project for experienced DIYers, but larger doors such as French doors, sliding doors and bi-fold doors are heavy and typically require more than one person to fit safely. Before ordering, it's important to accurately measure your opening to ensure you choose the correct size. All Aspire Doors products are supplied with fitting instructions, although many customers choose to use a professional installer to ensure the best fit, performance and security.
