Our Customers Love Our Doors!

Internal Shootbolts To Suit Your Needs

Installing a set of double French or bi-fold doors allows you to completely change up your living space, bringing two separate rooms together as one. They can enhance your home and help it feel lighter and bigger.

Having the ability to open your doors wide is wonderful, but another advantage of these door designs is that you can still protect the privacy of your rooms. The doors can be closed and the rooms separated at any time, allowing you the best of both worlds.

Shootbolts are perfect for those occasions when you’re keeping your spaces separate. They allow you to lock one or more panels of your door in place so that you can keep just one door free for access.

Whether you have a pair of doors or a multi-panel set, they will provide extra stability to the closed doors.

Smooth Operation

As shoot bolts are finger-operated, it is important that they are efficient and easy to operate. A low-quality mechanism that takes excessive force to use can put delicate fingers at risk of injury.

With all our door hardware we use high-quality materials and production methods to make sure that every latch unit we sell works smoothly without the need for additional force or risk of catching.

Added Security For Your Internal Doors

Our shootbolts are suitable for use across our whole internal doors range including our bifold, French folding and traditional French doors.

They match the sets already supplied with many of our door designs, making them the perfect choice whether you’re interested in a replacement, backup, or the option to fix an additional door in place.

Durable Materials And Premium Build Quality

All our doors are made from high-quality material to ensure aesthetic appeal and a long lifespan. We ensure that our internal door accessories meet the same exacting standards.

As well as making them easier to use, this means that all our shootbolts will offer a similar lifespan to the doors.

10-Year Guarantee

To prove the confidence we have in the quality of our products, our internal shootbolt sets come with a 10-year guarantee against mechanical defects. This means you can have peace of mind that a correctly installed latch will last just as long as your door handle and even the door itself.

Transparent About Price

We want to give our customers the most simple shopping experience possible, which is why the prices across our range already inc VAT and the cost of delivery.

Shoot Bolt FAQs:

What is a door shoot bolt?

A shoot bolt is a type of locking mechanism. When active it protrudes out from the bottom of the door and anchors into a keep.

Shoot bolts are also known as flush bolts because the lock itself sits flush with the edge of the door. This means you don’t have to worry about them spoiling the look of your door, and also makes them safer.

These simple door accessories are frequently used on external french and bifold doors to improve security.

With internal doors, security may be a less pressing issue. But installing a shoot bolt allows you to designate a traffic door on a large set of folding doors, so you don’t have to expose the whole doorway every time you use the door.

How do you Install a Shoot Bolt?

We highly recommend using a professional to install the shoot bolt itself. But if you’re familiar with carpentry and would like to take on the challenge yourself, then you’ll need some wood-cutting material and a couple of power tools.

First, you’ll need to trace the shoot bolt on the inside edge of the door. Once you’ve done this, you’ll have an idea of the shape you need to cut out to fit the shoot bolt. You’ll then have to use wood cutting tools to cut out the proper shape. Slowly cut further into the door until your shoot bolt fits flush to the door.

From here, screw the shoot bolt into the door. Close the door and note where the recess will have to be cut. You can do this by applying charcoal or lipstick to the end of the bolt, closing the door, and pressing the lock against the floor or frame. This will leave a small imprint that you should be able to use as a guide to cut the receiving hole.

Once you’ve cut the hole, install the metal frame on the recess and your shoot bolt is ready to go!

What is the Difference Between a Shoot Bolt and a Flush Bolt?

The main difference between a shoot bolt and a flush bolt is the locking mechanism. A shoot bolt locks with a small pin and is sometimes connected to a further locking mechanism, while a flush bolt locks with a longer rod and is an independent mechanism. Both locks will extend to a recess in the floor or frame to secure the door in place.

Can You use Shoot Bolts for Front Doors?

You can absolutely use shoot bolts for front doors. Though we recommend that you accompany this lock with a standard door lock, such as a euro lock or mortice lock. A shoot bolt can provide additional security to a door, but it’s not recommended to be used as the only locking mechanism on a door.

Is it Easy to Install a Shoot Bolt?

Installing a shoot bolt yourself takes some carpentry skills and materials. If you feel confident with this type of work, installing a shoot bolt will be no problem!

If you’re not familiar with woodwork, then don’t fret! Get in touch with an expert and they can do it for you!
